Dialogue in Images – an Oxford-Grenoble exchange for primary schools

At a time of uncertainty in relations between Europe and the UK, this is the perfect time to strengthen the bonds between Oxford and Grenoble and broaden the horizons of the children, while introducing them to imagery and ways of interpreting images.

Participating schools in Oxford and Grenoble had a talk from a local photographer, and each class took pictures in the immediate environment of their school and of their favourite places.

Each school sent 20 photographs to their partner school in the other city. The children chose their own captions for their photographs. Written in both languages, with the help of twinning committees, the captions promote the benefits of learning foreign languages, allowing different cultures to know and understand each other better.

Some of the chosen photographs are on display in the Oxford Town Hall, and a second exhibition will be held as part of Oxford IF Festival in October 2018.

We hope that links will develop between children and teachers from the 11 partner schools in the projects.
